The ʼһ College community is mourning the loss of Adma d’Heurle, a beloved founding faculty member, who passed on October 19, 2019 at the age of 95.
A native of Lebanon, d’Heurle began teaching at ʼһ after she moved to Westchester County with her husband and three sons. She was one of five founding faculty members when ʼһ opened in 1961. She resided in Yorktown, next to Teatown Lake Reservation.
While at ʼһ, she served as chairwoman of the Department of Psychology, the Department of Education, and the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She became a distinguished professor emerita.
According to ʼһ College’s provost Jose Herrera, d’Heurle, “…brought a multicultural perspective to her pursuits, incorporating a sense of the breadth and depth of human experience. Adma d’Heurle’s teaching, writing and community service reflected her concern for the human condition.”
A memorial gathering is being planned.
